Intellectual Sloppiness

You are intellectually sloppy. You may not think that is much of an insult, but it is a short-hand. Here is what I mean when I level that charge:
You can’t distinguish between an opera and a frying pan. It’s all the same to you, mainly because you lack the diligence to pay that close of attention to anything. Well, maybe you pay close attention to some things, like the things you self-importantly declare to matter. But that is also because you are self-centered. And that may be part of the root of your lack of diligence. You only care about the things that matter to you, as if the things that matter to you are the only things that matter. So, no point in paying attention to the things that don’t matter to you, because you’re self-certain. You know for sure that the things that don’t matter to you don’t matter. You’re never wrong. That is very self-impressive. And to you that means that anything can be anything you want it to be as long as that's how you want it. What's the difference? No distinctions. Just a big sloppy pile of messy thinking. Whatever!
And it might also mean that you are intellectually dishonest. The two often go hand in hand. Intellectual sloppiness is often part of the intellectual dishonesty skill set.

But not everyone embodies both. If you aren't intellectuality dishonest, you can bet that someone who is will see the opportunity that your intellectual sloppiness presents. They'll tell you whatever they want, expecting you to believe it because they know you are intellectually sloppy. They know you won't think too hard about it, pay too close attention to it or to contrary possibilities, or that you won't do your due diligence to evaluate the claims they make. You'll just go along.

Maybe you just don’t see the value to being a diligent person, to be real, and to grow as a human.
That’s a sad existence. It is a lot to live with. I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. But I call it as I see it.
