Everything Refers to Everything #E2E

At this point in human history, does it seem like all ideas have been thought of? That all discourse is just rehashing of earlier ideas or recombinations of earlier ideas? Does everything refer to everything else? Sometimes it feels that way to me.

Are there no new ideas, just rehashing, remixing, re-refererring pieces of the ideas from before? Think: like Hegel’s dialectic. Thesis. Antithesis. Synthesis. Then each new synthesis becomes a new thesis to be challenged by a newly synthesized antithesis to create a newly synthesized synthesis. This goes on ad infinitum, sowing the seeds of immense complexity. In our cultural and socially created realities. In the fabric of our biology, chemistry, and physics. In our way of understanding what we describe as reality. Are we approaching the complexity threshold?

We live in a time of information overload and attention overload. Too much information running through my brain, too much information driving me insane! There are ideas everywhere, and everyone is competing to get their ideas out. But is there anything new? Has human culture just been a running game of building ideas upon ideas? Are all ideas connected through the cultures and languages that have built them? Have we reached a point where it is impossible to even tell if there are any new or original ideas?

Is that why we created AI? Because we have run out of ideas and are hoping that AI can come up with new ones to save us from ourselves?

We’ve gotten bored with how everything refers to everything?
